Identified the man hanged in public in Bastam on 25 November: Mostafa Ajoudani

On November 26 IHR has estsablished the executed man’s identity as 31-year-old Mostafa Ajoudani. A source told IHR: “Mostafa Ajoudani was sentenced to death three years ago on charges of raping two girls, one of whom was his girlfriend. Both girls had later withdrawn their complaints and he was released on bail. However, the Supreme Court again upheld his death sentence, and he was arrested in Mashhad, quickly transferred to Shahroud, and the sentence was carried out.”

Bastam is a small city of under 10,000 inhabitants.

The head of the Semnan Provincial Judiciary is quoted as saying: “The defendant, by deceiving two women and with criminal intent, committed the heinous act of rape by force and coercion, and through intimidation and threats created fear and anxiety about disgrace for the complainants.”

The unidentified man is the nineth person to be publicly hanged in Iran in 2025.
