September 8, 2025 - IRAN. Political Prisoner Pejman Toubrehrizi Notified of Death Sentence over PMOI Membership
On September 8, 2025, the Iranian regime’s judiciary notified political prisoner Pejman Toubrehrizi, imprisoned in Evin, of his death sentence on the charge of membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), under the clerical regime’s fabricated label of “corruption on earth.” This verdict had already been prepared in typed form and was read out by the executioner-judge Amouzad.
Pejman’s trial took place on September 1, 2025, in Branch 28 of the regime’s so-called Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Amouzad. Earlier, on July 27, 2025, Pejman was taken to court in handcuffs and shackles, where the judge demanded that he accept the charges and cooperate with the Ministry of Intelligence in exchange for commutation of the death sentence to exile in Saravan. However, Pejman firmly refused. Again, on August 16, 2025, he was summoned to court without the presence of a lawyer, where the judge demanded that he sign under the death sentence on the charge of “corruption on earth.” Pejman did not comply.
Pejman Toubrehrizi, 31, born and residing in Kermanshah, was arrested in Tehran on January 28, 2025, and was held for more than two and a half months in wards 209 and 240 of Evin Prison, subjected to interrogation and torture by intelligence executioners.
On July 23, 2025, in a renewed raid by agents on Pejman’s parental home and their brutal conduct, his stepmother, Fariba Vahedi, who was suffering from cancer, went into shock and subsequently passed away.
At that time, the Iranian Resistance reported Pejman’s situation and details to the United Nations and international human rights organizations.
The Iranian Resistance once again calls on the United Nations and the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran to take urgent action to save the lives of prisoners on death row and to secure the release of political prisoners.
