October 1, 2023 - Samad Moradi executed in Ramhormoz on October 1.
According to information obtained by IHR, a man, identified as Samad Moradi, was executed in Ramhormoz Prison on 1 October. Moradi was 30, he was from Izeh, and was sentenced for murder.
A source told IHR: “Samad Moradi was arrested for murder charges around five years ago. When he was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution on Friday (29 September), other prisoners protested and set their blankets on fire to prevent his transfer. Ultimately, prison guards took Samad out of the ward. Eight prisoners were injured by prison guards.” The IRGC-affiliated Fars news agency confirmed the unrest at the prison.
At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media inside Iran.
