May 20, 2026 - IRAN. Shahin (Mohammadreza) Tafteh and Mohammad Asghari executed in Rasht on May 20
Iranian authorities have executed two Gilak prisoners, Shahin (Mohammadreza) Tafteh and Mohammad Asghari, both sentenced for murder.
According to information Hengaw received on June 2, the executions were carried out in the early hours of May 20, 2026, at Rasht Central Prison.
Tafteh, 32, was from Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh and was the father of one child. He had been sentenced in connection with a fatal street altercation approximately six years ago.
Asghari, 28, was from Rasht. He had been arrested around four years ago.
Iranian media outlets had not reported the executions at the time of publication.
