The Dhi Qar Criminal Court in southern Iraq has sentenced two Daesh militants to death for involvement in terrorist attacks.
One of the militants was convicted of involvement in the forced displacement of civilians and house arsons in the capital Baghdad in 2006, Abdul-Sattar Bayrakdar, a spokesman for Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, said in a statement.
The second militant was involved in two car-bomb attacks in the southern Dhi Qar province in 2013, he said. Another militant was sentenced to life in prison for planting and detonating an explosive device in the northern Diyala province in 2006. The verdicts are still subject to appeal.
