IRAQ: DEATH PENALTY IMPOSED ON FIVE CONVICTED OF KIDNAPPING AND KILLING CRIMES

The Central Criminal Court announced it has issued a death sentence against five convicted of kidnapping and killing crimes in one of the outskirts of the capital Baghdad.
The spokesman for the federal judiciary Judge, Abdul Sattar Bayrakdar said in a statement received by “Shafaq News", that "The first body in the Central Criminal Court, headed by Judge Baligh Hamdi issued a death sentence against five convicted on kidnapping and killing issue."
"The investigations have shown that convicts who had kidnaped a traders and killed and buried in the garden of a role located Madaen, east of Baghdad," adding that "the decision issued in accordance with Article IV of the Anti-Terrorism Act Elementary met the automatic appeal in the Federal Court of Cassation."
Bayraktar said that "this lawsuit is the first of the cases that have been resolved after the Supreme Judicial Council has decided to entrust the investigation in kidnappings cases to the Central Investigation Court", stressing that " it will be followed by other cases in which investigations have been completed."
