28 May 2024 :
The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council announced on May 28, 2024 the execution of three ISIS fighters.
The individuals had confessed to being members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) and participating in various terrorist acts against security forces, including car bombings and attempts to kidnap and release imprisoned ISIS fighters.
The council confirmed that the criminal court had provided the necessary documentation to issue and carry out the executions.
This marks the second execution of ISIS members in Iraq this month. On May 6, 11 ISIS members were executed in al-Hoot prison (also known as Nasiriyah Central Prison) in Nasiriyah, the capital of Dhi Qar province.
