MALAYSIA: THREE SENT TO THE GALLOWS FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

16 December 2014 :

Three men were sentenced to death by a High Court in Malaysia for trafficking almost a kilogram of shabu (methaphatamine).
The court found Ezeamama J. Chidiebele, 27, Emeka Alan Vallen, 26 and Opara Godfrey Chukwuemeka, 33, guilty of trafficking 982.4g of shabu on Sep 26, 2012 at 2.40pm at an apartment complex (Pangsapuri Widuri) at Butterworth.
Justice Zamani Abdul Rahim said that the defence case failed to cast reasonable doubt.
He said that the first accused, Ezeamama’s defence was against common sense, logic and cannot be accepted while the second and third accused’s statement tendered were inconsistent with the first accused.
“Their storylines and versions are divergent,” he said.
The three of them were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same act.
Deputy public prosecutor Emma Syafawati Abdul Wahab prosecuted while counsel Dr Pritam Singh Doal represented Emeka and Opara Godfrey.
