NIGERIA: MAN WITH 80 WIVES SENTENCED TO DEATH

27 August 2008 :

an Islamic body in Nigeria issued a death sentence on a man who married 80 women when Islam allows a maximum of four, the Guardian newspaper reported. The Jamatu Nasril Islam, one of Nigeria's top Islamic bodies, said that Mohammadu Bello Masaba from the central Niger state stood condemned to death unless he divorced 76 of the women in four days.
