two murder convicts were hanged in Sargodha and Sahiwal, raising the total number of executions to 97 since Pakistan reversed the self-imposed moratorium on the death penalty in December 2014 after the Taliban school massacre.Gul Muhammad was executed in Sargodha’s District Jail. The convict had killed his brother-in-law back in 1999.
Muhammad Hanif was hanged in Sahiwal Central Jail. He had killed Assistant sub-inspector Ahsan Ullah in 2006 during a shootout with police. An Anti-Terrorism Court awarded him death penalty in 2007.
