08 February 2025 :
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior announced on February 5, 2025 that two citizens had been executed after being convicted of “betraying the nation and supporting terrorism.”
In a statement, the ministry said it had “carried out the death sentence against Fahd Bin Saud Bin Hamad Al-Shammari and Sami Bin Khalaf Bin Aqil Al-Mutairi, both Saudi nationals.”
It added that the two individuals had “committed criminal acts amounting to treason against their country, adopted an extremist ideology that permits bloodshed and the violation of rights, supported terrorism and terrorist activities, disclosed classified information, and collaborated with terrorist elements to carry out attacks aimed at destabilising society and national security.”
The ministry stated that after being referred to the Public Prosecution, they were charged with these offences, and the specialised court issued a final ruling confirming their guilt and sentencing them to death. After an appeal, the verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court.
The executions were carried out on February 5 in Riyadh.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and ensuring justice in the country.
