a court in China upheld the death sentence awarded to South African woman Janice Bronwyn Linden, 35, for smuggling drugs into the country, the official Xinhua news agency reported. Police discovered three kilograms of the banned methamphetamine hidden in her luggage at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou in November 2008.In denying her appeal, the Higher Court in Guangdong province said Linden would not be allowed leniency. The Supreme Court must now approve the ruling before Linden is put to death.
