Kevin Kincy, a former pizza delivery man with a long criminal record, was executed for the robbery and slaying of a Houston-area man 13 years ago.
"I love my children. I love my family," Kincy, 38, said in a brief statement. "That's it."
Before the drugs took effect, Kincy pursed his lips into a kiss and smiled at a Swiss woman who married him last year. They met on a death penalty Web site that seeks pen pals.
Kincy was pronounced dead at 6:26 pm, eight minutes after the lethal drugs began to flow.
The Supreme Court rejected his appeal about 1 1/2 hours before the execution.
The murder victim, Jerome Harville, 31, was a former boyfriend of Kincy's cousin, Charlotte. According to trial testimony, the cousins hatched a plan to rob Harville, and the killing occurred in his home.
Kincy shot Harville and evidence showed his cousin stabbed him several times.
Kincy was caught after a chase that ended in Louisiana. He denied any knowledge of the killing. At the time of his arrest, he was free on bond on a weapons charge and was on parole for a cocaine conviction.
Charlotte Kincy pleaded to a 40-year prison term in the killing.
Kevin Kincy was the seventh convicted killer executed this year in Texas, the nation's busiest capital punishment state.
"They can hang him," Hosea Harville, 83, the victim's father, told the Houston Chronicle. "He killed a good man."
