
MALAYSIA: APPEAL COURT COMMUTES DEATH SENTENCE TO 30 YEARS JAIL FOR DRUG TRAFFICKERS

A former mechanic and a former cosmetician, convicted of two counts of trafficking drugs, had their death sentences commuted to 30 years in prison on November 22, 2023 by the Court of Appeal.

On 14 November 2023, Wenceslaus James, the longest serving death row inmate in the country, was released by order of the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago. Convicted for murder in 1996, Wenceslaus received the mandatory death sentence for the offence.
