A court in Kushtia on 31 July 2019 sentenced five people to death, six others to life imprisonment and six more people to different jail terms in the sensational Nurul Islam murder case.
Besides, the court fined all of them Tk 50,000 each.
Judge of District and Session’s Judge Court Arup Kumar Goshwami pronounced the verdict.
The condemned convicts are Md Masud, Parvez Hossain, Habibur Rahman Hobi, Fazlur Rahman and Sarwar Afu while the lifers are Billal Hossain, Sohel Rana, Md Monju, Rois Uddin, Matiur Rahman and Md Kabir.
Of the rest, one was awarded seven-year jail while five others were given three-year imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked Nurul Islam to death with sharp weapon on 19 December 2014 while he was on his way to local Poradaha Bazar in Mirpur upazila.
