A woman, identified only as M. A., was hanged on January 30 in Nowshahr prison. She had been on death row for six years. She is the 87th woman who is hanged during the term of Hassan Rouhani.

A special tribunal in Bangladesh on June 28, 2026 gave the death sentence in absentia to three police officers, including the former police chief of the capital Dhaka, in connection with the killing of protesters during a 2024 uprising that led to the collapse of the government.
