The method of execution is injection. The sentence is determined by a jury. The death row is located at Jameson Annex, Souix Falls. As for the clemency process, the Governor has authority to grant clemency with nonbinding advice of Board of Pardons and Paroles.
On July 11th 2007, South Dakota carried out its first execution in 60 years. The condemned did not ask for clemency and expressed his will to die.
