BAHRAIN: BANGLADESHI NATIONAL EXECUTED

Jassim Abdulmanan, a Bangladeshi national sentenced to death in Bahrain for murder, was executed, The Gulf Daily News reported. Jassim was sentenced to death by the High Criminal Court on 17 January 2007, after he had been found guilty of the premeditated murder on 23 October 2005 of Ridar Mian, another Bangladeshi man. Two other Bangladeshi nationals were sentenced to life imprisonment in the same case. The three men lodged an appeal and on 6 April 2009, the Supreme Appeal Court reduced the two life sentences to 15 years' imprisonment, but upheld the death sentence for Jassim Abdulmanan.
