BANGLADESH: 10 GETS DEATH PENALTY FOR KILLING THREE CATTLE TRADERS IN BANDARBAN

A court in Bangladesh sentenced 10 defendants to death on October 24, 2022 in the case of the murders of three cattle traders among four people on the Alikadam-Thanchi route in the Bandarban hill district.
The accused are- Lojohon Tripura, 20, John Back Tripura, 22, Jasin Tripura, 25, Jibon Tripura, 24, George Tripura, 28, Sunny Tripura, 20, Salau Tripura, 20, Senendra Tripura, 27, Joseph Tripura, 25, and Shigram Tripura, 37.
Judge Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan of Bandarban's District and Session Court passed the order.
According to Bandarban District and Sessions Judge Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Md Iqbal Karim, on April 14, 2016, John Tripura called Abu Naim to Alikadam-Thanchi road.
The plaintiff in the case, Abul Hasem said that the accused informed his younger brother Abu Naim that they wanted to sell nine of their cows for Tk3 lakh. Being informed, Abu Bakkar, 28, Nurul Afsar, 29, and Sahabuddin, 29 went with him to buy the cows with the money at Thanchi-Alikadam road.
However, after arriving there, the three traders along with Hasem's brother Abu Naim were killed and their money taken.
“We are happy with the verdict,” Abul Hashem said.
According to court sources, on April 16, 2016, Abu Bakkar's brother Abul Hasem filed a murder case against the accused in Thanchi police station.
The defendants were given a sentence of death under section 302 of the Penal Code and six months in prison without the possibility of parole and a fine of Tk10,000.
The defendants are all missing.
