The Supreme Court on 7 October 2018 upheld the death penalty for Saiful Islam rejecting his review plea in Saudi embassy official Khalaf Al-Ali murder case.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order.
Now, death row convict Saiful can seek presidential clemency. If such plea is filed and rejected, he will have no alternative, but to walk to gallows.
Khalaf, 45, was shot dead near his home in Gulshan diplomatic zone in Dhaka on the night of March 5, 2012.
