5 prisoners were executed at the Raja’i Shahr prison on 2 Jan 2019. According to Iranian Human Rights, the names of the prisoners are not known, and their accusation was murder.

5 prisoners were executed at the Raja’i Shahr prison on 2 Jan 2019. According to Iranian Human Rights, the names of the prisoners are not known, and their accusation was murder.
Twelve individuals, who were found guilty over the murder of former Polonnaruwa District Member of Parliament Amarakeerthi Athukorala and his security officer in 2022, were sentenced to death on February 11, 2026.
