IRAN - Converted Iranian Christian Mahrokh Ghanbari (also Rokhsareh Qanbari), presented herself at Shahid Kachooei Prison

Converted Iranian Christian Mahrokh Ghanbari (also Rokhsareh Qanbari), presented herself at Shahid Kachooei Prison in her home city of Karaj today to begin a one-year jail sentence. Mrs Ghanbari recorded a short video message before going to prison, in which she said she had been arrested by agents from Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence “for the crime of believing in Jesus Christ”. Mahrokh Ghanbari, was arrested in July, 2019, and then sentenced in July at a Revolutionary Court in Karaj, on charges of “propaganda against the system” through converting to Christianity and attending house churches. She was arrested for the first time before Christmas along with three other Christian converts. Prayer meetings were held at her home in Karaj, where she and three other women were arrested. Other people’s names have not been officially published yet. Mahrokh Ghanbari was under interrogation for eight days by Intelligence Ministry agents and was released on bail until her final verdict.
