Five prisoners, names of whom are not published by the Iranian authorities, were executed in Khoy City, West Azerbaijan Province, based on an official news released on 2 January 2019. The men were accused of being active in a drugs distribution network. The information was published by the Association for the Human Rights of the Azerbaijani People in Iran, and picked up by UNPO, Unrepresented Nations and People Organization. It is not clear wether the executions took place inside the Khoy Prison, or in public in Khoy City.
