An Iraqi court in Baghdad has sentenced a convict to death over exploding a religious shrine in Nineveh province, an official said on October 3, 2018.
In a statement, Abdul Sattar al-Bayraqdar, the spokesperson for the High Judiciary Council, said “the Central Criminal Court sentenced to death a convict who exploded the shrine of Zein al-Abidine in Nineveh, in cooperation with other convicts, who are involved in other lawsuits.”
The convicts, according to the statement, “admitted that they took part in exploding the shrine using TNT explosive substance.”
The court “found that all the evidence against the suspect were enough and conforms to the fourth article of countering-terrorism law,” he added.
