SOMALIA: PUNTLAND MILITARY COURT SENTENCES FOUR AL-SHABAB AFFILIATES TO DEATH AND PRISON TERMS

A Puntland military court sentenced four defendants to death and prison terms on May 21, 2024 for their links to the al-Shabab militant group.
The first suspect, Mohamud Mohamed Ahmed (Qeyliye), was found to be in agreement with the leader of the al-Shabab group in Puntland. The court stated that Qeyliye was responsible for driving the vehicle used to pick up the gunmen of the group for planned killings.
He was found to have transported two gunmen in his car who subsequently killed two people in Bosaso. The court sentenced him to death.
The second man, Abdikhadar Mohamed Shire, who was also accused of being an al-Shabab driver, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Ibrahim Abdi Isse (Qaloocow), who was accused of being responsible for fixing the group’s vehicles in Bosaso, was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The third man, Mohamud Abdirisaaq Gurase, who was also accused of helping Abdikhadar Mohamed Shire, was sentenced to three years in prison.
