Alva Campbell, the terminally ill prisoner whom Ohio unsuccessfully attempted to execute in November, has died of his illness. The state moved forward with Campbell's execution despite warnings by his lawyers that his terminal condition compromised his veins. Prison officials called off the execution after failing for two hours to insert an IV execution line.
