UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING COLLEAGUE IN ROW OVER PHONE VOLUME
April 21, 2010: in the United Arab Emirates, the Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance sentenced Egyptian construction worker A.A.A, 28, to death for killing compatriot co-worker H.A.K. He allegedly confessed to hammering his head with a stick in a row over the volume of music on the victim's phone. Police said the crime took place in a deserted building in Al Nassirya, Sharjah, where workers of various nationalities used to stay and sleep on the building's roof. The brother of the victim told the court that the family sought capital punishment for the accused.
