IRAN SENTENCES ETHNIC KURDISH CITIZEN TO DEATH
April 23, 2010: a Kurdish citizen was sentenced to death by a revolutionary court in Mahabad in Iran's Kurdistan Province for being Moharebeh or warring against God. The Mukrian News Agency reported that Habibollah Golparipur, of Sanandaj city, was allegedly a member of a dissident group and had publicised against the state. Golparipur has been spending the past six months in detention in the cities of Sanandaj and Mahabad. He has 20 days to appeal the court's death sentence which was confirmed by his lawyer Seyyed Ehsan Mojtavi. (Sources: BBC, 26/04/2010)
