BAHAMAS: ANOTHER DEATH SENTENCE OVERTURNED BY PRIVY COUNCIL

30 August 2011 :

the London-based Privy Council overturned the death sentence of Bahamas national Earnest Lockhart for murdering Caxton Smith, 23, on June 8, 1999, by shooting him with a single bullet after he refused to sell drugs for him.
In a written judgement, the council held that his crime was not "the worst of the worst" and ordered for him to be re-sentenced.
Both men had been drug dealers.
