BANGLADESH: ONE AWARDED DEATH SENTENCE, 5 TO LIFE TERM IN MURDER CASE

A Dhaka court awarded death sentence to one person and life term to five people for killing a student in Netrakona Sadar upazila.
Judge ABM Sajedur Rahman of speedy trial tribunal-3 pronounced the verdict.
The convict who awarded death is Mokhlesur Rahman and the five, who sentenced life term are—Habibur Rahman alias Bakul, Ramim Miah, MAtiur Rahman Mati, Mosharraf Hossain and Afjal Hossain Rab.
The court also fined Tk 20,000 to the five convicts each, in default, to serve one year more in jail.
Mizanur Rahman Babu, student of class seven, went out of the house by the call of the convicts on October 15, 2011. Later, they stabbed Babu to death with sharp weapons over the school committee issue.
The victim’s father Sanjur Rahman filed a case with Netrakona Central Thana.
