BANGLADESH: THREE SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR WAR CRIMES IN NOAKHALI

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sentenced three war criminals, including Razakar Amir Ahmed, alias Amir Ali, to death in a case filed over crimes against humanity in 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.
A three-member tribunal headed by the ICT Chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam delivered the verdict on March 13.
The other two convicts are Abul Kalam alias AKM Mansur and Joynal Abedin.
The tribunal also handed down a jail term of 20 years to another convict named Abdul Kuddus.
Another accused of the case, Md Yusuf has been acquitted, due to his death caused by old age complications.
On February 6, the tribunal concluded the hearing of arguments from both sides on the trial of the four men for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the war in 1971 in Noakhali’s Sudharampur and kept the verdict.
