A Chittoor court, in the state of Andhra Pradesh, on August 22, 2023 awarded death penalty to a middle-aged man identified as Syed Moulali on charges of killing his live-in partner and her 65-year-old mother.  
According to Madanapalle police, Moulali was in a live-in relationship with one Sarala of Govindavaripalle in Tamballapalle mandal of Annamayya district.  
Sarala was a widow and she lived with her mother and three minor daughters.  
Moulali shifted them all to his farmhouse near Yetigadda Thanda.  
With time, he turned suspicious that Sarala was having an affair.  
On September 29, 2020, Moulali killed Sarala.  
A month later, when Sarala's mother started questioning Moulali about her missing daughter's whereabouts, he strangulated her too. Later, Moulali shifted Sarala's three minor daughters to Karnataka and started sexually abusing them.  
Tamballapalle Police booked a case and carried out inquiry through conviction-based policing in 2022. They got a verdict of death sentence from the court in just 20 months. 
Under the conviction-based policing methodology, each unit officer in their jurisdiction (SP/CP) is assigned at least five major cases (given prior to crime against women). The unit officer will review the trials in court and make sure they are conducted without any delay. The unit officer will also ensure that no criminal escapes from the crime he/she committed. 
The main aim behind this is that a unit officer will help avoid any kind of threat to the victims and ensure quick punishment for the criminal. The data on convictions is regularly updated to the director general of police (DGP) K.V Rajendranath Reddy. Further, finding that the court monitoring system implemented to resolve disputes in the court is only limited to issuing notices related to the cases, the DGP asked the officials to strengthen the system. He asked the officers to ensure the cases are not delayed and the offenders are punished.
