INDIA: TRIPLE MURDER ACCUSED GETS DEATH SENTENCE

In India, a 55-year-old man was given a death sentence by Keonjhar district session judge Guruprasad Sahu for killing three members of a family in 2009, public prosecutor Gopal Parida said.
Suka Palei of Bhaliadihi village in Nayakote police station area had killed Phulamani Dehury (40) and Ramesh Dehury (20) of Bhaliadihi on December 10, 2009, suspecting them of being sorcerers. Another member of the family, Sapana Dehury (45), was killed by Palei at Rakamghati in Mandatangar forest a few days later. Palei was later arrested by IIC (Nayakote) Ghasia Patel.
After hearing the verdict, Palei said "I am innocent. It is a conspiracy by some of my relatives. I will appeal against the sentence in higher court."
