IRAN. FIVE EXECUTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

22 October 2007 :

five drug traffickers were executed in Birjand in northeast Iran by the verdict of the Islamic Revolution Court that was ratified by the state prosecutor-general and the head of the State Supreme Court.
According to the Mehr correspondent in Birjand, five drug traffickers active in trafficking opium and heroin who transited drugs from Zahedan to the other parts of the country were sentenced to death and executed after the official formalities.
The law enforcement forces discovered a total of 1,472 kg opium, 56 kg morphine and seven kilograms heroin in the possession of these drug traffickers.
