IRAN: HANDS OFF CAIN AND THE RADICAL PARTY CONDEMN VIOLENCE AGAINST POLITICAL PRISONERS IN THE EVIN JAIL

22 April 2014 :

Hands Off Cain and the Radical Party condemned the attack on 17 April to Iran's Evin prison by agents of the Intelligence Ministry who, along with about a hundred prison guards, have prevailed on the prisoners of section 350.
At least 30 of them were seriously injured during the violent beating, and 32 were transferred to solitary confinement. Among these, the lawyer Mr. Soltani; Sa'id Metinpour, an activist for the rights of the Azeri minority; the union Behnam Ebrahimzadeh and political opponents Behzad Arabgol and Hootan Dolati. Many of the prisoners subjected to acts of violence belong to the Organization of the People's Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI). From April 18 in Evin prison is going on a hunger strike.
Sergio D'Elia, secretary of Hands Off Cain and Marco Perduca, UN Representative of the Radical Party have said: "In the eight months at the helm of Rohani, Iran has distinguished himself not only for the record number of executions, but also for a criminal policy against political prisoners and in particular against members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. "
The two radical exponents continued: "The international community should open eyes against a President hailed by all Governments, particularly those in the West, as a hope for change. Because a genuine regime change can only occur if you radically reform the institutional system based on absolute domination of an anachronistic and obscurantist theocracy that still sees the supreme spiritual leader as the untouchable and unquestionable fulcrum of absolute power
"Italy can do its part by confirming its readiness to accommodate a hundred mujaidin currently held in the so called "Liberty Camp" in Iraq," they concluded the Radicals “also demonstrating the support to the resistance, unarmed, to the harassment suffered despite their international status of refugees".
