An unidentified prisoner was hanged at 22 Bahman Square in the city of Ilam in front of a crowd of people.
According to the Iranian state-run media, ISNA, the prisoner was executed on the morning of September 5 on murder charges.
He was arrested and sentenced to death in 2012.
The research of Iran Human Rights shows 34 people were hanged in public in Iran in 2016 and an audience of hundreds of people, including children, were present for most of these hangings.
