In Liberia, the third Judicial Circuit Court in Greenville, Sinoe County sentenced two persons to death by hanging for the murder of Captain Boye-Blue Dweh. The two men, Bob Seekie and Attina Wieh were handed down the sentence following a bench trial. Speaking in an exclusive interview with this paper recently in Greenville city, the County assigned Prosecuting Attorney John A.A. Gabriel explained that Cllr. Albert C. Dweh Sr, resident judge gave the ruling following a bench (trial by judge and jurors).
Attorney Gabriel further told this paper that the court also sentenced three other persons to three years imprisonment in connection with the death of the late Captain Dweh. He named those sentenced to three years imprisonment as Precilia Wieh, Sherman Wleh Wieh and Gabriel Wleh Wieh.
According to Attorney Gabriel, the three individuals sentenced to jail were found guilty of criminal facilitation, while the two who were sentenced to death are guilty of murder.
According to him, the late Captain Dweh was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner on arrival at his drugs store (medical practitioner) during the night of February 27, 2012.
The deceased was rushed to a nearby drugs store in Greenville by his neighbors after he was stabbed several times by the five sentenced individuals when they attacked him at his residence. “Captain Dweh, a then arresting officer at the court here had gone to effect an arrest of one Kofa a relative to the Wiehs. Kofa attempted to resist arrest, while in the process of apprehending him (Kofa), a Liberia national Police (LNP) Officer arrived on the scene.
The Police officer successfully affected the arrest of Kofa by requesting for and using captain Dweh’s handcuff. When the news reached the Wiehs, they resolved to retaliate by attacking Captain Dweh and taking his life away.” Att. Gabriel narrated. At the same time, the lead defends council Sinoe public defender Cllr. Geeply Tiklo Kontor has promised to take an appeal to the Supreme Court of Liberia for further redress.
