Two plenary sessions, eleven panel discussions, workshops and debates: kicks off today in Madrid the 5th World Congress against the Death Penalty (Palacio Municipal de Congresos) promoted until 15 June by "Ensemble contre la Peine de Mort" in partnership with "World Coalition against the Death Penalty".
The aim of the event, the organizers explained, "is to play an increasingly influential role in the international political strategy, by promoting cooperation among States, international organizations and civil society with a view to completely abolishing the death penalty."
Exchange of views amongst experts, civil society representatives, politicians from all continents. Among these, the Foreign Ministers of Spain, France, Switzerland, Norway, Benin, Mauritania.
