MALAYSIA: TWO FRIENDS RECEIVE DEATH PENALTY FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

In Malaysia, two friends were sentenced to death by the high court for trafficking 20,698.4 grammes of cannabis in 2007.
Justice Datuk Zamani Abd Rahim read his decision after finding the defence of the two accused Muhamad Nasir Hussain, 55, an unemployed and R. Murthi, 48, a contractor as merely a denial.
The two accused were alleged to be trafficking in 20,698.4 grammes of cannabis at Jalan Besar, between 3.45 pm and 4.15 pm on March 20 2007.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Tan Guat Cheng while Muhamad Nasir was represented by VM Ravichandran and R.Murthi by R.S.N Rayer.
