Gary Allen, 56, black, was executed in Oklahoma. Allen was sentenced to death in 1987 after pleading guilty to the Nov. 21, 1986, murder of Lawanna Gail Titsworth, 24, the mother of Allen’s two sons. He then struggled with a police officer and was shot in the head.
Allen becomes the 5th inmate to be put to death this year in Oklahoma, the 101st overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1990, the 36th this year in the USA this year and the 1313th overall since the nation resumed executions 1977.
