a 25 year old man in the United Arab Emirates who raped a 50 year old woman in Sharjah had his death sentence reduced to seven years in jail, a court official said. The Emirati man identified as A.F. was sentenced to death by the Sharia Court of First Instance. One night, A.F. in a drunken state entered the woman's villa from the kitchen window. The court official said A.F. found the woman in her bed and raped her several times from midnight till 5am. The woman only contacted police when A.F left her. A.F. appealed the sentence but the court upheld the verdict.
The case was sent back to the Appeal Court in Sharjah by the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi, which found that that he did not force her.
