The full United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit heard argument in Ohio's appeal of a federal district court ruling granting death-row prisoners an injunction against the state's execution protocol. The District Court had granted a preliminary injunction barring Ohio from using the drug midazolam in a multi-drug execution, as well as conducting executions using a paralytic drug and the drug potassium chloride (see also April 6 and 25, 2017).
