VIETNAM: DEATH SENTENCE UPHELD IN DRUG TRAFFICKING CASE

in Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Supreme Court upheld a death sentence issued by the first instance court to a man from Binh Phuoc province for drug trafficking. Luu Van Tuong, 44, was caught by the Tay Ninh provincial police on September 13, 2008, while carrying more than 3.4kg of heroin from Cambodia to Vietnam via the Trans-Asia Highway.
Tuong confessed that a Cambodian national named Bon paid him VND50 million to transport the carton to Vietnam. He was also fined VND30 million.
