IRAN. MAN HANGED FOR MURDER
May 7, 2006: an Iranian man convicted of murder was hanged in a prison in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. The man, identified only as Mohammad M., had killed a fellow farmer in a dispute over an irrigation channel.
The execution brings to at least 44 the number of people executed in Iran so far in 2006, according to an AFP tally based on press reports and witnesses. (Sources: Agence France Presse, 07/05/2006)
