IRAN. GAY YOUTH SENTENCED TO DEATH
December 2, 2007: a gay Iranian youth was sentenced to death
for the crime of "lavat" (literally, sodomy), for having sex at 13
years old with another boy. "From today, every day could be the last for Makwan,
from the moment that the Iranian judiciary told his family the place and time of
the execution," EveryOne warned.
"An immediate international protest is necessary, one
that includes the Italian Government, the European Parliament and all of
society. We must make our voices heard in Iran and ask for Makwan to live.
Makwan is innocent and the crime for which he was sentenced to death was his
homosexuality."
