IRAN PUBLICLY HANGS TWO CONVICTED OF RAPE AND MURDER
January 28, 2008: two men convicted of raping and murdering nine women were hanged in public in the central Iranian city of Arak, the Fars news agency reported.
State television showed Abutaleb Mohammadi-Nasab and Yazdan Karimi hanging from cranes in front of hundreds of onlookers after the pair were found guilty of raping, robbing and murdering the women in 2001 and 2002. (Sources: Agence France Presse, 28/01/2008)
