IRAN. TWO HANGED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
April 27, 2008: two men were hanged for drug trafficking in the main prison of Qom, Iran. The prisoners were identified only as Mahmood, 47, and Ghodrat, 56. Speaking with a Fars reporter on the death sentence of the two drug traffickers, Hadi Tarshizi, the head of the public relations department of Qom Public and Revolution Prosecutor Office, said "these two people were arrested in Qom province and charged with drug trafficking.
The sentence was carried out after being approved by the Country's Prosecutor-General. Tarshizi added "the sentence was carried out in the presence of representatives from the prosecutor-general's office and Law Enforcement Forces." (Sources: BBC, NCRI, 27/04/2008; Iran Human Rights)
