SUDAN: MILITARY COURT SENTENCES 18 SOLDIERS TO DEATH FOR MUTINY

January 17, 2010: a Sudanese military court sentenced 18 soldiers to death charging them with insubordination and mutiny. 
According to the pro-SPLM Ajras Al-Hurriyah newspaper, the soldiers refused to deploy from Al-Ubayyid City in Kurdufan State to the town of Umbro in Northern Darfur and instead went to the Al-Fashir capital city in a convoy of 26 vehicles.
