YEMEN: SIX MEN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING SOLDIER
February 13, 2011: security court in Yemen's southeast province of Hadramout sentenced six men to death for killing a soldier in the neighboring province of Shabwa and attacking a security checkpoint in March 2009, official news agency Saba reported.
The court sentenced another three youths to five years each in prison for the same charges as they were underage, Saba said.
Saba did not say whether those accused were from al-Qaida or southern separatist group as the country have been long struggling to curb those armed groups in the south, as well as the Shiite rebels in the north. (Sources: Xinhua, 13/02/2011)
