THAILAND: DEATH SENTENCE FOR 3 EX-COPS
July 30, 2012: In Thailand, the Criminal Court handed down the death sentence for three former policemen convicted of the premeditated murder of a teenage boy, reports said.
Five former memberrs of the Kalasin police were found guilty of killing the student, Kiatisak Thitboonkrong, 17, from Kalasin province, in 2004.
They are Pol Snr Sgt Maj Ankar Kamulna, Pol Snr Sgt Maj Suthinan Nonthing, Pol Snr Sgt Maj Pansilp Upanan, Pol Col Montri Sribunlee and Pol Lt-Colonel Sumit Nansathit
The court found the defendants guilty of premeditated murder, moving the dead body to conceal the crime, and abuse of authority.
Ankar, Suthinan and Pansilp were sentenced to death, Montri was sentenced to life imprisonment and Sumit to seven years in prison.
A sixth defendant in the case, Pol Lt Col Sampao Insi, was acquitted on all charges. (Sources: bangkokpost.com, 30/07/2012)
